We just finished our 3rd year with BAK and this camp continues to be one of the best decisions my wife & I have *ever* made for our kiddo. The level of nurturing, fun & creativity the kids receive here is unlike any other camp our son has been to (and we’ve tried a bunch of camps now over the past few years). Campers are immersed in a world of art, music, theater & games, supported by Belinda & Wally, which allows the kids to truly let loose and have a blast while exploring & creating together. It’s been such a positive experience for our son that we’ve noticed he almost seems to glow when we come to pick him up & will talk non-stop in the car about all the adventures he had on the way home (he is normally very shy).
We are already planning our return for a 4th summer next year & still cannot believe how lucky we got in finding this camp. Thank you Belinda, Wally & the BAK team for providing such a magical experience for our son each year! – B.H.
You know that truly creative, joyful, open, safe and chill summer experience you want for your kids where they can just BE kids, while creating and learning organically? Where they can truly enjoy art-making of all kinds (theater, puppets, sculpture, collage and more) with peers and teachers who are just so entirely themselves? We only did one week of BAK this summer for our kiddo and I’m mad I didn’t find it sooner. Our kid thrived, and reflected on how much she enjoyed the vibes, loved the games, the teachers and the fellow campers. And now she’s teaching her little sibling and all her friends how to paper mache puppets. Exposing our children to the pure love and joy that is art— says this early childhood educator slash former and maybe future poet— is just the absolute best. I actually felt a surprising amount relief once I realized what BAK offers like, “Ok, good good, this can still exist. Folks are still out here in this upside down world doing this with children, and with each other. Phew.” In sum—highly, highly recommend. – C.G.

Wally and Belinda, I have been meaning to write you both this summer. My daughter wasn’t able to come to your camp because we were away at the same time. Instead, she did a different art and theater camp in August. “It’s in Park Slope I’m sure it’ll be great!” Dave and I agreed. It was not great, it was fine. But mainly it just could not come close to inspiring her the way your camp last year did. She said: “Well we had a lot more time and MUCH longer days at Belinda and Wally’s camp, that’s why we did SO much more.” Sorry child the time was exactly the same. Her mind was blown. She said, “Belinda and Wally’s camp was MUCH, MUCH BETTER AND FUNNER!” Hoping for next year. – C.K.
HI Wally and Belinda, I just wanted to send a note saying how much our son loved the camp … it was very obvious when he would come home each day, exhausted but with the biggest smile on his face. Dear Belinda and Wally, Thank you so much for your excellent instruction in the “Arts” program this summer. Since then, my daughter’s pieces have shown much improvements as she has implemented the fine details and skills that were taught to her this summer! Oh my gosh! I think camp was a really positive amazing experience for our daughter. Her feedback was this: Belinda taught me that there are no mistakes so now I can draw anything I want! My goal was for her to expand her thinking and exposure a little and I think she did that. I know she loved studio art and I’m so happy we found you!
